Suspension and termination

We will determine, in our discretion, whether there has been a breach of these terms of use including the Acceptable Use Policy through your use of our site. When a breach of this policy has occurred, we may take such action as we deem appropriate.

Failure to comply with the acceptable use policy constitutes a material breach of the terms of use upon which you are permitted to use our site, and may result in our taking all or any of the following actions:

Immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use our site.
Immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any posting or material uploaded by you to our site.
Issue of a warning to you.

Pledges related to civil disobedience, “take down on notice service”

The Compassionate Revolution recognizes the role civil disobedience has played in social justice movements over the years. Persons using the site may wish to share acts of civil disobedience they are willing to take on as part of a movement for social justice (“pledge holders”). Compassionate Revolution may share this information. We are not encouraging others to participate through this information sharing.
We are subject to “take down on notice” laws which may ask us to remove illegal materials. The company may reflect on whether material is illegal and whether different wording is required.

Procedure

We will respond to all complaints within 48 hours.
We will forward any complaint on to a contributor to the Compassionate Revolution, for example a blogger or a pledge holder, within 48 hours.
Within 5 days the contributor must respond to the complaint, if this is to object to materials being removed then we will pass on contact details for the contributor to the complainant.
If we are unable to do this we will remove the post / contribution / pledge

 

User Contributions / Pledges

We will consider any User Contribution / Pledge you post to the site as non-confidential and we will treat it as not owned by you or anyone else. In order to further the mission of this site or the mission of Compassionate Revolution, we may use, copy, distribute or disclose this material to other parties.
For pledge holders, if materials are submitted to us by you, which you wish us to keep confidential, you must instruct us to do so actively.
In order to make sure we know that we can use this material in these and other ways, we will take your posting this material to mean that you confirm and warrant that you own or control all rights in and to the User Contributions and have the right to grant Compassionate Revolution and its affiliates the license to use this material as discussed above.
When you post material to the site your doing so means that all of your User Contributions do and will comply with these Terms of Use, and you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Compassionate Revolution and its affiliates and licensors for any breach of that representation and warranty.
You understand and acknowledge that you are responsible for any User Contributions you submit or contribute, and you, not Compassionate Revolution, have full responsibility for such content, including its legality, reliability, accuracy and appropriateness.

Applicable law

If you are a consumer, please note that these terms of use, its subject matter and its formation, are governed by English law. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

A foundational premise of Compassionate Revolution is the right of every individual to feel safe, comfortable and welcome. Therefore every individual here is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, compassionate and welcoming space.

 

A simple starting point is adherence to these core principles. Incidents that breach these principles will be treated as extremely serious and the complaints procedure will be followed.

 

In particular, We do not condone the following:

Physical violence or the incitement to violence towards others is not accepted.
Discriminatory behavior
Language or behaviour that exhibits racial domination, sexism, homophobia, ablism, class discrimination, prejudice around age and all other forms of oppression including abusive language towards others either here or elsewhere is not accepted.

 

Spamming, trolling or bullying

Without prejudice to any of the practices and procedures contained above, we reserve the right to provide one stern public warning and/or require a sincere apology/retraction (whichever is appropriate) in the event an individual user engages in behavior which can be characterised as spamming, trolling and/or bullying. In the event of consistent and/or significant spamming, trolling and/or bullying, we reserve the right to permanently remove all content posted by any individual engaged in such behavior with or without the right to prior notice.
